70/74 Arles
70/74 Arles is an immersive artistic initiative and endurance-based experimentation in production, conceived by artist Marie Obegi. As an artist whose practice and visual vocabulary is shaped by years of travel, reflection, and experimental process. The project will be paired with expert curatorial guidance from Margaux Bonopera (Van Gogh Foundation, Arles).
Over the course of 70 consecutive days in Arles, Obegi will create 74 paintings and drawings, echoing the urgency and intensity of Vincent van Gogh’s final 70 days, during which he completed 74 works. This project is both homage and challenge: a test of creative stamina, artistic dialogue, and transformation through constraint.
Inspired by Le Soleil et l’Acier by Yukio Mishima and by Arles’ radiant legacy of artistic production, this residency channels physical and mental extremity into prolific creative output. The result will be an evolving body of work—formed through commitment, co-inspiration, and deep immersion in place.
